Russ Talks About Drugs & Alcohol
Get ready for an incredible performance
that is guaranteed to entertain your students while promoting the
choice for a healthy lifestyle free of alcohol, tobacco, or other
substance abuse on campus. Russ Peak's drug awareness
presentation is filled with all the
motivation and entertainment of his award-winning
high school success assembly, while
emphasizing the lasting impact of life's important choices, challenging
teens to ask themselves the important question:
"Where do drugs and alcohol
fit into my life?"
This is NOT your typical drug awareness assembly filled with boring text book drug facts and outdated statistics. There are no tearful tales of drunk drivers, overdoses, and criminal regrets told in an effort to scare you straight. It may have worked in the 2nd grade - but that was a long time ago.
Instead, when you bring Russ to your campus, he talks about drugs & alcohol to your students in a way that will actually keep their full attention. Using comedy, audience participation, and jaw dropping mind stunts designed to keep teens on the edge of their seats, he guides them through three important steps that will empower them to make a positive drug free choice:
#1 Know The Facts!
Marijuana, meth, prescription pills, inhalents, alcohol... there seems to be as many options of substances to abuse as there are days in the year. Plus, new drug options seem to appear in our schools on a daily basis. However, no matter which drugs are popular on your campus, or among your peers, the thing they all have in common is that they all carry lasting consequences that may affect your future, your freedom, and maybe even your life.
#2 Choose Your Side!
It's our choices that make us who we are - At some point, every teen is called to make a choice whether to 'TRY' or 'DENY' drugs. It might be offered from a stranger or someone they know - at school, at a party, or even at home. It might also be a solo attempt to escape the pressure and hardships of life. Sometimes drugs seem to be the answer to teens who feels lost. Though, as Russ explains... when you know who you are, where you're going, and what you stand for... the sometimes clouded choices of substance abuse becomes crystal clear.
#3 Make A Stand!
Making Positive Choices can can be difficult - especially when the pressure is on. Your peers engaging in substance abuse often want to get you involved so that when their bad choices catch up to them, they feel justified because "(Your Name Here) does it too!". Therefore, if you're committed to live a healthy drug free lifestyle, it's important to equip yourself with ways to defend your choice. Not with those empty "Just Say NO!" lines we've been taught all our lives - but by truly believing in the the choice you have made, and surrounding yourself with friends and activities that help you stay strong!
